How is my driving?

Bent sign, Nikon D7000
22nd August 2014

While walking Bonnie the dog this morning, I noticed that some of the local driving is not the best in the world.

I hope the train was not coming when the vehicle rushed past knocking this sign!

We had a barbecue this evening.   Great fun was had by all and I could not resist a homage to the two Ronnies :)

Spider and Fly.  Nikon D7000
20th August 2014

Today I managed to catch a spider in the act of catching a fly.

We also spent the afternoon feeling very fly-like up trees hooked up to a thin rope.

Alex and Katie were in their element swinging at great heights in the trees and piling down the zip wires.

I nearly crapped myself on a number of occasions!

Not in London

London is famous for its profusion of Plane trees.   I had never really looked here in France, but Alex said he would score points in his Eye-Spy book if he found one.

After lots of searching in the local area, I realised there was one on our camping pitch!

What is green and Sticky?

I had only ever seen stick insects in zoos; never in the wild (if you can call on a campsite being in the wild).

The consensus was that the name "sticky" was appropriate and many jokes were circulated, along with suggestions of what to do with him.

We somehow persuaded the children to let him not suffer a horrible death, which seemed to be a theme of many of their suggestions.

Children eh?

A key advantage the mid-west French have is that the weather is generally a bit warmer than we get in the UK.

My tomatoes have struggled to ripen every year (I did not bother planting them this year), yet here in France, they can even be ripe when green!

The green Zebras are a firm favourite with us all.

16th August 2014

We have driven down across France today on the first day of our holiday.

As ever, we stopped for lunch at the motorway pull-in with the windmills.

There were not many running today; either they were stopped for maintenance, or the locals just did not need the power.

The wind was blowy enough however to make Liz complain that it was cold though.
