There are some sights a parent dreads...

There are some phone calls that strike the fear into any parent.  Today it went along the lines of "Alex jumped off the swing and hurt his back and hit his head.   He was losing feeling in his feet so an ambulance has been called".

Luckily it turned out to be only bruising of the back and ego.

They were having a competition to see who could swing the highest; and he decided to jump off at the peak of the swing.

We called the dog "Muppet" not him!

A dose of the white stuff

The weather is still unpredictable.   Today it decided to chuck down great gobs of white stuff.

The snow was far to wet to even stick to the grass, but it was nice to at least see an attempt from this Winter.

I am not hopeful for a snow day this year :(

St David's Day and the quest for Gold.

Today is St David's day, but once again, the Daffodil's in the garden are not open fully yet.

We have not had any decent cold periods this Winter, so I was hopeful that Spring may have been a tad earlier this year in order to open the blooms.  No luck.

Just a slight hint of the yellow gold blooms.

Katie did well at the fencing competition today though: she got gold even if I could not find any.

On a weekend morning, Alex is often up early so he can play Minecraft or other "educational" computer game.

Muppet likes to help out; he is getting quite adept at opening apps on touch screens and typing on keyboards, whether you like it or not!

The sky this morning was clear (even of contrails from the aircraft) and the sun was rising fast.

There was a nice contrast between the silhouette of the distant houses and the dawn.

The pigeons on the TV aerial seemed to be waking slowly too.

Signs of Spring

They have been growing well now for a while, but the flowers on the Primroses are finally all starting to burst into bloom.

I have not seen any bees around on the flowers yet, but the weather is having some warm days and I am sure the nectar is thawed.

Jo has made a number of lap-quilts to keep us warm in the evenings while we sit on the sofa.

Muppet has decided that he really likes the quilts; but only if he can lie on the end of them.

He wriggles in his sleep and slowly pulls more and more to lie on, attempting to wrestle away the quilt from the occupant's lap!
