Memorial at Cap Blanc Nez. Nikon D7000 |
We had lunch at Cap Blanc Nez today, overlooking Calais. The weather was very blowy and a bit hazy so you could only just see the cliffs of Dover.
The Cap has a memorial on top and is covered in WWII bunkers; the surrounding landscape is also still pock-marked with craters from the Allied shelling of the positions.
We ended the day by catching the train through he tunnel back to Blighty; the train is quite narrow when you drive on, causing some poor folks to find an new use for zinc oxide plaster bandage.
