It is approaching that time of year when children all around the country get gripped with the horrible American tradition of 'trick or treat'; or as I remember it, Halloween.
I am not sure whether it is the surfeit of chocolate, or the fun of hacking apart a pumpkin, but it is certainly not pumpkin soup that excites them.
